Başalan Patent & Trade Mark, which provides the security of the ISO 9001:2000 quality, was founded by Ahmet Başalan and Feriha Başalan on September 09, 1994, and since that date, has been providing services to persons and institutions in respect of protecting industrial and intellectual property rights, and also rendering the services related with the registration of trademarks, patents, utility models and industrial designs in Turkey and all over the world as legal trademark and patent representative.

The founders of Başalan Patent & Trade Mark have been authorized by the Turkish Patent Institute as the Attorneys of Official Trademarks and Patents, and also as European Patent Attorneys by the European Patent Office. Their Professional Liability Insurances have been made within the framework of legal arrangements.

Başalan Patent & Trade Mark does not only provide services relating to the registration with or without priority demand of trademarks, patents, utility models, industrial designs geographical signs and indications, integrated circuit topographies with the Turkish Patent Institute as the representative of official trade marks and patents but shall also pursue and object in the name of its clients in respect of similarity and identicalness, provides assistance in order to prevent registrations that may cause unfair competition and ambiguity, following publication of registration applications of every kind of trademarks, patents, utility models and industrial designs in relevant Official Bulletins in the light of new legal arrangements which took force on 27 July, 1995 in respect of harmonization with the legislation of the European Union.

Besides the said services, Başalan Patent & Trade Mark uses its research department, which is equipped with a wide computer network, in order to investigate in the most rapid manner whether trademarks, patents, utility models and industrial designs are registered in Turkey and all around the world or not, and notifies the received information to its clients through contemporary communication means.

As its central office is established and provides service in İstanbul, being an intersection point of different continents, Başalan Patent & Trade Mark is in good relationship with its colleagues in the European and Middle Eastern Countries. Such good relations are not only established with the said countries but also with the U.S.A., the C.I.S. countries and Asia.

Başalan Patent & Trade Mark renders consultancy services to its clients in solving problems relating to industrial property rights, and also renders services about objection, counter complaint, cancellation and registration proceedings relating to decisions concerning with the trade marks, patents, utility models, industrial designs, geographical signs and integrated circuit topographies of private and public institutions as well as persons.

OUR WORK AREAS INTELLECTUAL AND INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY RIGHTS

In Turkey, development of the industrial property rights has started in the 19th century as the 1857 dated law of Hakk-I Telif Nizamnamesi about the protection of opinion and work of art, 1871 dated Alamet-I Farika Nizamnamesi about the protection of the trademarks and the 1879 dated Invention Brevet (İhtira Beratı) about the protection of patents came into the force. However, because Turkey has implemented several laws and regulations, and all the international agreements in this field are signed since 1994, this period is accepted as a milestone in the subject of intellectual and industrial property rights protection. Today, Turkey has a modern intellectual and industrial property rights protection system in the international standards. .
