A geographical indication is a type of geographical sign that indicates a product originates from a specific geographic area, and while it must have at least one characteristic related to that region, it can also be produced in different regions.

 

Characteristics of Products with Geographical Indication

The product's unique quality, reputation, or characteristics are linked to a specific geographical area.

Its production must be done using traditional methods from that geographical region.

It is not mandatory for the product to be entirely produced in that region, but at least one of its characteristics must originate from that area.
